청계천에 놓인 36개의 돌, [청계유석]은 우리가 매일 사용하는 음료수 캔, 우산, 창문과 문, 자전거, 자동차 등을 만들며 생겨난 알루미늄 조각을 재생, 압축해 만든 조형물입니다. 각 [청계유석]의 표면에는 저마다의 흔적이 남아있어, 물결처럼 잔잔한 변화를 일으키고 햇빛을 받아 반짝이다가 시간이 지나면 돌처럼 바래어갑니다. 청계천이 덮였다가 다시 열리며 오랜 세월과 생태를 품어온 것처럼, 이 작품 또한 잠시 머문 뒤 재활용되어 새로운 자원으로 순환하게 됩니다.

These 36 stones are sculpted from recycled aluminum fragments—once part of everyday urban objects such as drink cans, umbrellas, windows, bicycles, and cars. Their surfaces preserve delicate traces of origin, shimmering in light, shifting like ripples, and gradually weathering into the stillness of stone. Like the Cheonggyecheon , once buried and later revived, this work embodies the resilience of time and place. It lingers only briefly before returning to the sustainable cycle of upcycling and renewal.

은빛의 단면은 알루미늄이 반복적으로 압축되며 생겨난 층위가 선명하게 드러난 조형물입니다. 앞·뒷면을 따라 흐르는 결은 지층을 닮아 있으며, 그 표면에는 도시의 잔향이 남아 있습니다. 자동차의 차체 패널, 건물의 창틀이나 외장재처럼 다양한 산업적 흔적이 응축되어, 금속의 단단함과 동시에 시간의 압력을 보여줍니다.  Silver Strata reveals the layered imprint of aluminum repeatedly pressed into form. Its front and back surfaces resemble geological strata, marked with ridges and folds that carry the resonance of the city. Once part of structures such as car panels or window frames, it condenses the memory of industrial materials into a single, compact body—at once rigid in substance and heavy with the pressure of time.

 이 돌은 단순한 폐기물이 아니라, 일상과 도시를 지탱했던 재료가 또 다른 형태로 전환된 결과물입니다. 반짝임과 거친 주름이 공존하는 표면은, 끊임없이 쌓이고 마모되는 인간 활동의 기록이자, 새로운 순환으로 향하는 전환점입니다. 이 압축물은 도시가 만들어내는 물질적 풍경과 그 속에 스며든 시간의 켜를 응축해 보여주는 은빛의 단면입니다. This stone is more than discarded scrap; it is a remnant of what once sustained daily life in the urban fabric. The coexistence of shimmering surfaces and rough creases speaks to the accumulation and erosion of human activity, while pointing toward a cycle of renewal. “Silver Strata” is thus a silvery cross-section of the city’s material landscape, holding within it layers of both memory and transformation.
