청계천에 놓인 36개의 돌, [청계유석]은 우리가 매일 사용하는 음료수 캔, 우산, 창문과 문, 자전거, 자동차 등을 만들며 생겨난 알루미늄 조각을 재생, 압축해 만든 조형물입니다. 각 [청계유석]의 표면에는 저마다의 흔적이 남아있어, 물결처럼 잔잔한 변화를 일으키고 햇빛을 받아 반짝이다가 시간이 지나면 돌처럼 바래어갑니다. 청계천이 덮였다가 다시 열리며 오랜 세월과 생태를 품어온 것처럼, 이 작품 또한 잠시 머문 뒤 재활용되어 새로운 자원으로 순환하게 됩니다.

These 36 stones are sculpted from recycled aluminum fragments—once part of everyday urban objects such as drink cans, umbrellas, windows, bicycles, and cars. Their surfaces preserve delicate traces of origin, shimmering in light, shifting like ripples, and gradually weathering into the stillness of stone. Like the Cheonggyecheon , once buried and later revived, this work embodies the resilience of time and place. It lingers only briefly before returning to the sustainable cycle of upcycling and renewal.

이 돌은 네 개의 서로 다른 표정을 지니고 있습니다. 앞면은 고요한 수면처럼 매끈하게 눌려 있지만, 오른쪽은 물결이 흘러가다 갑자기 멈춘 듯한 결들이 가득합니다. 뒷면은 세월의 압력으로 차곡차곡 쌓여 올린 지층을 닮았고, 왼쪽은 부서진 파편들이 다시 모여 거칠지만 단단한 질서를 만들어 냅니다. This stone carries four distinct faces. The front is as smooth and hushed as the surface of still water, while the right side is etched with ripples—like currents arrested mid-flow. The back recalls stratified layers pressed and formed over time, and the left gathers scattered shards into a coarse yet enduring order.

 은폐된 흐름은 정적 속에 숨어 있는 자연의 힘을 비유합니다. 원래 산업적 쓰임을 가졌던 금속이 압축되어 돌처럼 굳어버린 이 형상 속에는, 보이지 않는 시간의 흐름과 에너지의 흔적이 켜켜이 쌓여 있습니다. 물결, 지층, 파편의 이미지가 함께 공존하는 이 돌은, 멈춘 듯 보이는 표면 아래에도 여전히 흐름이 숨 쉬고 있음을 보여주는 은유적 기록입니다. Veiled Currents speaks of nature’s hidden forces residing within apparent stillness. Once an object of industry, this metal has been pressed into a stone-like form, carrying within it the traces of unseen time and energy. Images of waves, strata, and fragments coexist, reminding us that beneath the quiet surface, motion continues—subtle, patient, and unceasing.
