청계천에 놓인 36개의 돌, [청계유석]은 우리가 매일 사용하는 음료수 캔, 우산, 창문과 문, 자전거, 자동차 등을 만들며 생겨난 알루미늄 조각을 재생, 압축해 만든 조형물입니다. 각 [청계유석]의 표면에는 저마다의 흔적이 남아있어, 물결처럼 잔잔한 변화를 일으키고 햇빛을 받아 반짝이다가 시간이 지나면 돌처럼 바래어갑니다. 청계천이 덮였다가 다시 열리며 오랜 세월과 생태를 품어온 것처럼, 이 작품 또한 잠시 머문 뒤 재활용되어 새로운 자원으로 순환하게 됩니다.

These 36 stones are sculpted from recycled aluminum fragments—once part of everyday urban objects such as drink cans, umbrellas, windows, bicycles, and cars. Their surfaces preserve delicate traces of origin, shimmering in light, shifting like ripples, and gradually weathering into the stillness of stone. Like the Cheonggyecheon , once buried and later revived, this work embodies the resilience of time and place. It lingers only briefly before returning to the sustainable cycle of upcycling and renewal.

이 돌은 표면이 접히고 찢긴 자국들로 가득 차 있습니다. 마치 오래된 편지를 구겨 보관했다가 다시 펼친 듯, 매끈한 부분과 구겨진 자국이 교차하며 시간의 흔적을 보여줍니다. 그 안에는 쓰여 있던 글자가 이미 사라졌지만, 여전히 누군가의 메시지와 감정이 남아 있는 듯한 여운을 줍니다. This stone carries a surface filled with folds, creases, and torn edges. It resembles an old letter that has been crumpled, stored away, and unfolded again—its smooth planes and jagged marks intersecting to reveal the passage of time. Though the words that might once have been written are lost, a lingering presence remains, as if holding on to a message never fully spoken.

접힌 편지는 금속이라는 차가운 물질 안에서도 인간적인 온기를 발견하게 합니다. 알루미늄 파편들이 압축되며 만들어낸 면과 선들은 우연히도 서사적 장면처럼 보이고, 이 조각은 버려진 자재가 다시금 이야기를 품은 매개체가 될 수 있음을 증명합니다. 무겁게 눌린 흔적 속에서 우리는 잊혀진 기록, 혹은 아직 전달되지 못한 목소리를 떠올리게 됩니다. Folded Letter reveals a trace of warmth within a cold material. The planes and lines created through compression resemble fragments of narrative, suggesting that even discarded matter can hold memory and voice. Within the weight of its pressed surfaces, one imagines forgotten stories or unspoken voices preserved quietly in metal.
