청계천에 놓인 36개의 돌, [청계유석]은 우리가 매일 사용하는 음료수 캔, 우산, 창문과 문, 자전거, 자동차 등을 만들며 생겨난 알루미늄 조각을 재생, 압축해 만든 조형물입니다. 각 [청계유석]의 표면에는 저마다의 흔적이 남아있어, 물결처럼 잔잔한 변화를 일으키고 햇빛을 받아 반짝이다가 시간이 지나면 돌처럼 바래어갑니다. 청계천이 덮였다가 다시 열리며 오랜 세월과 생태를 품어온 것처럼, 이 작품 또한 잠시 머문 뒤 재활용되어 새로운 자원으로 순환하게 됩니다.

These 36 stones are sculpted from recycled aluminum fragments—once part of everyday urban objects such as drink cans, umbrellas, windows, bicycles, and cars. Their surfaces preserve delicate traces of origin, shimmering in light, shifting like ripples, and gradually weathering into the stillness of stone. Like the Cheonggyecheon , once buried and later revived, this work embodies the resilience of time and place. It lingers only briefly before returning to the sustainable cycle of upcycling and renewal.

겹겹이 눌린 알루미늄은 두텁게 포개진 선율처럼 이어져 있습니다. 음료수 캔이나 포장재의 얇은 금속이 반복적으로 구겨지고 압축되며, 현악기의 줄처럼 긴장과 떨림을 담은 결을 형성했습니다. 표면에 남은 주름은 소리가 공기 중에 퍼지듯 은빛의 파동을 그려냅니다. Compressed layers of aluminum unfold like overlapping lines of sound. Once thin sheets from cans or packaging, the fragments have been bent and pressed into striations that resemble the taut vibration of instrument strings. The surface seems to echo, its folds radiating like waves of resonance suspended in silver.

울림의 현은 금속이라는 단단한 물질이 소리를 닮아가는 순간을 보여줍니다. 빛을 따라 반짝이며 살아 움직이는 듯한 결은 도시의 잔해가 다시 음악적 리듬으로 변모하는 장면을 암시합니다. 이 돌은 사라진 소음을 은밀히 품은 채, 순환의 과정 속에서 또 다른 울림으로 이어집니다. Resonant Strings reveals the moment when rigid matter begins to resemble music. Its shifting sheen trembles like a note held in the air, transforming remnants of the city into a rhythm of renewal. This stone carries the memory of vanished noise, now stilled yet ready to resound in another cycle.
