청계천에 놓인 36개의 돌, [청계유석]은 우리가 매일 사용하는 음료수 캔, 우산, 창문과 문, 자전거, 자동차 등을 만들며 생겨난 알루미늄 조각을 재생, 압축해 만든 조형물입니다. 각 [청계유석]의 표면에는 저마다의 흔적이 남아있어, 물결처럼 잔잔한 변화를 일으키고 햇빛을 받아 반짝이다가 시간이 지나면 돌처럼 바래어갑니다. 청계천이 덮였다가 다시 열리며 오랜 세월과 생태를 품어온 것처럼, 이 작품 또한 잠시 머문 뒤 재활용되어 새로운 자원으로 순환하게 됩니다.

These 36 stones are sculpted from recycled aluminum fragments—once part of everyday urban objects such as drink cans, umbrellas, windows, bicycles, and cars. Their surfaces preserve delicate traces of origin, shimmering in light, shifting like ripples, and gradually weathering into the stillness of stone. Like the Cheonggyecheon , once buried and later revived, this work embodies the resilience of time and place. It lingers only briefly before returning to the sustainable cycle of upcycling and renewal.

Collected From : Gangwon-do 이 돌은 매끈한 평면과 잘게 분쇄된 금속 파편이 공존하는, 대조의 풍경을 보여줍니다. 오른쪽 면은 큰 조각들이 맞물려 거울 같은 반사를 만들어내며, 빛에 따라 단단한 견고함을 드러냅니다. 반면 다른 면은 작은 파편들이 뒤엉켜 파도처럼 거친 표정을 지으며, 금속이 지닌 날것의 긴장감을 드러냅니다. 이러한 대비는 마치 도시가 가진 이중성—질서와 혼돈, 구조와 파편—을 압축해 담아낸 듯합니다. This block embodies a striking contrast between surfaces: broad, smooth planes pressed flat into reflective sheets, and fractured shards clustered into rough, restless patterns. On one side, the metal mirrors light with a sense of stability and order; on the other, its jagged fragments ripple with raw tension. Together, they compress the city’s dual nature—its balance between structure and rupture, between permanence and decay.

균열의 대비는 단순히 두 가지 질감의 차이를 넘어서, 서로 다른 조각들이 공존하며 만들어내는 새로운 질서를 보여줍니다. 버려졌던 알루미늄이 다시 모여, 넓은 판과 잘린 파편으로 나뉜 채 단단한 하나의 형체를 이룬 것입니다. 이는 도시가 균열 속에서도 새로운 균형을 찾는 방식, 부서진 조각이 모여 새로운 서사를 쓰는 과정을 은유합니다. Contrast of Fragments is not simply about opposing textures, but about how disparate pieces coexist to form a new order. Discarded aluminum returns, reassembled as wide sheets and broken fragments, now bound together into a single resilient body. In this coexistence of fracture and cohesion, the piece speaks of the city’s capacity to create equilibrium out of disorder, forging continuity from the fragments of its own past.
