청계천에 놓인 36개의 돌, [청계유석]은 우리가 매일 사용하는 음료수 캔, 우산, 창문과 문, 자전거, 자동차 등을 만들며 생겨난 알루미늄 조각을 재생, 압축해 만든 조형물입니다. 각 [청계유석]의 표면에는 저마다의 흔적이 남아있어, 물결처럼 잔잔한 변화를 일으키고 햇빛을 받아 반짝이다가 시간이 지나면 돌처럼 바래어갑니다. 청계천이 덮였다가 다시 열리며 오랜 세월과 생태를 품어온 것처럼, 이 작품 또한 잠시 머문 뒤 재활용되어 새로운 자원으로 순환하게 됩니다.

These 36 stones are sculpted from recycled aluminum fragments—once part of everyday urban objects such as drink cans, umbrellas, windows, bicycles, and cars. Their surfaces preserve delicate traces of origin, shimmering in light, shifting like ripples, and gradually weathering into the stillness of stone. Like the Cheonggyecheon , once buried and later revived, this work embodies the resilience of time and place. It lingers only briefly before returning to the sustainable cycle of upcycling and renewal.

압축된 알루미늄의 표면은 거세게 구겨진 주름과 날카로운 갈라짐으로 가득 차 있습니다. 자동차의 패널, 창틀이나 외장재로 쓰였던 금속은 압력과 충격을 거치며 단단한 덩어리로 응축되었고, 그 안에서 예기치 못한 파도의 형상이 드러났습니다. 물질의 거친 단면은 바람에 일렁이는 수면을 닮았고, 빛이 스칠 때마다 흐르는 듯한 변화를 보여줍니다. The surface of this compressed aluminum is marked by deep creases and sharp fractures, evidence of intense pressure and transformation. Once part of everyday urban structures—perhaps a car panel, a window frame, or architectural cladding—the fragments have been pressed into a dense mass where unexpected patterns emerge. Within its folds and ridges, the rigid metal begins to echo the restless contours of waves, shimmering and shifting as light moves across it.

이 돌은 강인한 금속성과 유동적인 이미지가 동시에 깃든 존재입니다. 견고한 재료 속에서 발견되는 흐름은 도시의 잔해가 지닌 또 다른 가능성을 드러내며, 단단한 파편조차 자연의 리듬을 닮을 수 있음을 말해줍니다. 쇳빛의 파도는 인간의 흔적에서 비롯된 재료가 순환의 과정 속에서 다시 살아나는 순간을 은빛의 표면 위에 기록하고 있습니다. Here, strength and fluidity coexist. The solid presence of the metal contrasts with its surface image of motion, revealing how even the remnants of the city can evoke the rhythms of nature. Metallic Tide captures a moment where discarded matter is reimagined, recording on its silvery skin the passage from utility to ruin, and from ruin to renewal.
