청계천에 놓인 36개의 돌, [청계유석]은 우리가 매일 사용하는 음료수 캔, 우산, 창문과 문, 자전거, 자동차 등을 만들며 생겨난 알루미늄 조각을 재생, 압축해 만든 조형물입니다. 각 [청계유석]의 표면에는 저마다의 흔적이 남아있어, 물결처럼 잔잔한 변화를 일으키고 햇빛을 받아 반짝이다가 시간이 지나면 돌처럼 바래어갑니다. 청계천이 덮였다가 다시 열리며 오랜 세월과 생태를 품어온 것처럼, 이 작품 또한 잠시 머문 뒤 재활용되어 새로운 자원으로 순환하게 됩니다.

These 36 stones are sculpted from recycled aluminum fragments—once part of everyday urban objects such as drink cans, umbrellas, windows, bicycles, and cars. Their surfaces preserve delicate traces of origin, shimmering in light, shifting like ripples, and gradually weathering into the stillness of stone. Like the Cheonggyecheon , once buried and later revived, this work embodies the resilience of time and place. It lingers only briefly before returning to the sustainable cycle of upcycling and renewal.

이 돌은은 위에서 내려다보면 마치 선물 포장지 위에 얽힌 리본처럼 보입니다. 넓고 날카로운 금속 조각들이 서로 교차하며, 겹겹이 겹쳐진 면들은 정성스럽게 감싸진 상자의 표면을 떠올리게 합니다. 그러나 이 빛나는 ‘포장’은 화려한 장식이 아니라, 도시의 잔해와 파편들이 억눌려 만들어낸 압축의 흔적입니다. 그 안에는 한때 쓰이고 버려졌던 일상의 기억들이 단단히 감춰져 있습니다. From above, this stone resembles a gift box bound with crossed ribbons. Broad shards of aluminum overlap and intersect, their planes shimmering like a surface carefully wrapped. Yet this glimmering “wrapping” is not decoration but the compressed residue of the city’s remains. Hidden beneath it are fragments of everyday life—once used, discarded, and now bound together under immense pressure. ‘

포장된 기억은 우리에게 묻습니다. 무엇이 감춰지고 무엇이 드러나는가? 이 알루미늄의 표면은 선물처럼 빛나지만, 그 내부에는 시간이 남긴 파편과 흔적이 고스란히 잠들어 있습니다. 겉으로는 단단하고 차가운 금속이지만, 이 작품은 결국 도시가 남긴 기억을 감싸 안은 은빛의 패키지입니다. Wrapped Memory invites reflection on concealment and revelation. Its metallic surface shines like a present, while its interior holds the weight of time’s debris. What appears as a rigid package is, in truth, a vessel of memory—an urban keepsake wrapped not in paper, but in silvered fragments of the city itself.
