청계천에 놓인 36개의 돌, [청계유석]은 우리가 매일 사용하는 음료수 캔, 우산, 창문과 문, 자전거, 자동차 등을 만들며 생겨난 알루미늄 조각을 재생, 압축해 만든 조형물입니다. 각 [청계유석]의 표면에는 저마다의 흔적이 남아있어, 물결처럼 잔잔한 변화를 일으키고 햇빛을 받아 반짝이다가 시간이 지나면 돌처럼 바래어갑니다. 청계천이 덮였다가 다시 열리며 오랜 세월과 생태를 품어온 것처럼, 이 작품 또한 잠시 머문 뒤 재활용되어 새로운 자원으로 순환하게 됩니다.

These 36 stones are sculpted from recycled aluminum fragments—once part of everyday urban objects such as drink cans, umbrellas, windows, bicycles, and cars. Their surfaces preserve delicate traces of origin, shimmering in light, shifting like ripples, and gradually weathering into the stillness of stone. Like the Cheonggyecheon , once buried and later revived, this work embodies the resilience of time and place. It lingers only briefly before returning to the sustainable cycle of upcycling and renewal.

이 돌은 압축된 물질의 무게를 지니며, 굴곡은 두텁게 부풀어 오르고 덩어리는 고요하지만 강렬하게 솟아납니다. 표면은 주름과 층진 굴곡으로 이루어져 마치 압력과 시간이 빚어낸 지형과도 같습니다. 각도마다 견고함과 연약함이 교차하며, 마치 침묵 그 자체가 형태로 응고된 듯한 인상을 줍니다. This stone holds the weight of compressed matter, where folds swell into bold contours and masses rise with quiet intensity. The surface, marked by ridges and layered bends, resembles a topography forged from pressure and time. Each angle suggests both resilience and fragility, as if silence itself had been sculpted into shape.

침묵의 굴곡은 비어 있지 않은 고요를 말합니다. 그 굴곡은 기억을 품고, 덩어리는 인내의 흔적을 담습니다. 얼어붙은 듯한 금속의 면들은 여전히 움직임의 기운을 지니고 있으며, 한때 압축되고 뒤틀리며 형상을 만든 힘의 메아리를 간직합니다. 이는 단단한 물질이 어떻게 움직임의 기억을 간직하는가에 대한 성찰입니다. Contours of Silence speaks of stillness that is not empty but charged, where the folds carry memory and the masses embody endurance. The metallic planes appear frozen, yet within them lies a sense of movement—an echo of forces that once pressed, twisted, and gave form. It is a meditation on how solidity retains the memory of motion.
