청계천에 놓인 36개의 돌, [청계유석]은 우리가 매일 사용하는 음료수 캔, 우산, 창문과 문, 자전거, 자동차 등을 만들며 생겨난 알루미늄 조각을 재생, 압축해 만든 조형물입니다. 각 [청계유석]의 표면에는 저마다의 흔적이 남아있어, 물결처럼 잔잔한 변화를 일으키고 햇빛을 받아 반짝이다가 시간이 지나면 돌처럼 바래어갑니다. 청계천이 덮였다가 다시 열리며 오랜 세월과 생태를 품어온 것처럼, 이 작품 또한 잠시 머문 뒤 재활용되어 새로운 자원으로 순환하게 됩니다.

These 36 stones are sculpted from recycled aluminum fragments—once part of everyday urban objects such as drink cans, umbrellas, windows, bicycles, and cars. Their surfaces preserve delicate traces of origin, shimmering in light, shifting like ripples, and gradually weathering into the stillness of stone. Like the Cheonggyecheon , once buried and later revived, this work embodies the resilience of time and place. It lingers only briefly before returning to the sustainable cycle of upcycling and renewal.

이 조각은 알루미늄이 압축되며 형성한 선들이 마치 직조된 천처럼 얽히고설킨 형태를 보여줍니다. 앞면과 옆면에서 드러나는 규칙적인 줄무늬는 도시의 일상 속에서 반복되는 리듬과도 닮아 있으며, 빛을 받으면 은빛의 결이 촘촘한 직물처럼 반짝입니다. 표면 위의 결들은 각기 다른 알루미늄 조각이 모여 새로운 질서를 만들어낸 흔적이자, 한 번 쓰이고 버려진 것들이 다시 모여 또 다른 존재로 태어났음을 상징합니다. This stone reveals strands of compressed aluminum that interlace like a woven fabric. The striations running across its surfaces recall the rhythms of urban repetition—everyday patterns pressed into permanence. Under shifting light, the metallic weave shimmers like cloth, each fold and ripple reflecting the convergence of fragments once scattered and forgotten. These layered textures testify to how discarded matter gathers into a new order, forming a body greater than the sum of its parts.

그러나 이 덩어리는 단순히 얽힌 흔적만이 아니라, 도시의 시간을 직조한 기록으로도 읽힙니다. 음료 캔, 생활 도구, 혹은 작은 기계 부품일지도 모르는 파편들이 한데 모여 압축되며, 본래의 기능을 넘어선 새로운 형태적 서사를 만들어냅니다. 금속의 직조는 한 조각 한 조각이 연결되어 거대한 직물로 완성되듯, 도시가 켜켜이 쌓아온 삶의 결을 압축해 보여주는 은빛의 단면입니다. Beyond its woven surface, the piece serves as a chronicle of time in the city. Fragments of cans, tools, or perhaps machine parts are drawn together, stripped of their original purpose yet reborn in unison. Woven Alloy stands as an alloy of memory and material, a silver textile that embodies the layered weave of urban life.
