청계천에 놓인 36개의 돌, [청계유석]은 우리가 매일 사용하는 음료수 캔, 우산, 창문과 문, 자전거, 자동차 등을 만들며 생겨난 알루미늄 조각을 재생, 압축해 만든 조형물입니다. 각 [청계유석]의 표면에는 저마다의 흔적이 남아있어, 물결처럼 잔잔한 변화를 일으키고 햇빛을 받아 반짝이다가 시간이 지나면 돌처럼 바래어갑니다. 청계천이 덮였다가 다시 열리며 오랜 세월과 생태를 품어온 것처럼, 이 작품 또한 잠시 머문 뒤 재활용되어 새로운 자원으로 순환하게 됩니다.

These 36 stones are sculpted from recycled aluminum fragments—once part of everyday urban objects such as drink cans, umbrellas, windows, bicycles, and cars. Their surfaces preserve delicate traces of origin, shimmering in light, shifting like ripples, and gradually weathering into the stillness of stone. Like the Cheonggyecheon , once buried and later revived, this work embodies the resilience of time and place. It lingers only briefly before returning to the sustainable cycle of upcycling and renewal.

구겨진 빛결은 뒤틀림과 반짝임이 공존하는 역설을 담고 있습니다. 보이지 않는 손에 의해 주름지고 눌린 듯한 표면은 예기치 못한 방향으로 빛을 흩뿌립니다. 완벽하지 않고 불규칙한 모습 속에서 오히려 빛나는 아름다움이 드러납니다. Crumpled Gleam captures the paradox of distortion and radiance. The surface, pressed and folded as if wrinkled by unseen hands, scatters light in unexpected directions. What appears broken or irregular becomes a source of brilliance, proving that beauty often resides in imperfection.

이 돌은 회복력에 대한 성찰을 보여줍니다. 한 번 형태가 바뀐 물질도 여전히 빛을 머금고 굴절시키며, 그 주름 속에는 압력이 빛으로 전환된 기억이 스며 있습니다. 구겨진 빛결은 구부러지고 압축된 것조차 스스로 빛날 힘을 간직한다는 사실을 조용히 일깨워줍니다. This stone reflects on resilience—the way matter, once altered, continues to hold and refract light. In its creases, the viewer encounters the memory of pressure transformed into luminosity. Crumpled Gleam thus stands as a meditation on how even what is bent or compressed retains the power to shine.
