청계천에 놓인 36개의 돌, [청계유석]은 우리가 매일 사용하는 음료수 캔, 우산, 창문과 문, 자전거, 자동차 등을 만들며 생겨난 알루미늄 조각을 재생, 압축해 만든 조형물입니다. 각 [청계유석]의 표면에는 저마다의 흔적이 남아있어, 물결처럼 잔잔한 변화를 일으키고 햇빛을 받아 반짝이다가 시간이 지나면 돌처럼 바래어갑니다. 청계천이 덮였다가 다시 열리며 오랜 세월과 생태를 품어온 것처럼, 이 작품 또한 잠시 머문 뒤 재활용되어 새로운 자원으로 순환하게 됩니다.

These 36 stones are sculpted from recycled aluminum fragments—once part of everyday urban objects such as drink cans, umbrellas, windows, bicycles, and cars. Their surfaces preserve delicate traces of origin, shimmering in light, shifting like ripples, and gradually weathering into the stillness of stone. Like the Cheonggyecheon , once buried and later revived, this work embodies the resilience of time and place. It lingers only briefly before returning to the sustainable cycle of upcycling and renewal.

앞면은 얕은 물가에 반쯤 잠긴 바위를 닮았습니다. 물살에 오래 닳아 윤곽은 부드럽지만, 표면 곳곳에 남은 굴곡과 주름은 오랜 흐름이 남긴 흔적처럼 느껴집니다. 오른쪽 면은 마치 비에 젖어 매끈하게 반짝이는 절벽의 단면 같아, 빛이 스치면 은근한 광택을 흘려보냅니다. 뒷면에서는 서로 엉켜 있는 주름이 숲속의 이끼 낀 바위처럼 보이고, 왼쪽은 마치 층층이 퇴적된 지층이 드러난 듯 결이 일정하게 쌓여 있습니다. The front resembles a rock resting half-submerged at a riverbank, its softened contours shaped by time, while fine ridges across its surface recall the passage of countless currents. The right side gleams like the rain-washed face of a cliff, subtly catching the light. On the back, entangled folds evoke moss-covered boulders in a forest, and the left reveals stratified layers resembling exposed sedimentary ground.

강물에 닳은 돌은 물과 시간의 흔적이 만든 풍경을 응축해 담고 있습니다. 단단함 속에서도 끊임없이 변화해온 흐름의 기록, 고요히 그러나 깊게 새겨진 자연의 호흡이 이 덩어리 안에 잠들어 있습니다. Riverworn Stone embodies the quiet record of water and time. It carries within it the patient erosion of flow, the enduring weight of stillness, and the echo of nature’s breath etched into its body.
