청계천에 놓인 36개의 돌, [청계유석]은 우리가 매일 사용하는 음료수 캔, 우산, 창문과 문, 자전거, 자동차 등을 만들며 생겨난 알루미늄 조각을 재생, 압축해 만든 조형물입니다. 각 [청계유석]의 표면에는 저마다의 흔적이 남아있어, 물결처럼 잔잔한 변화를 일으키고 햇빛을 받아 반짝이다가 시간이 지나면 돌처럼 바래어갑니다. 청계천이 덮였다가 다시 열리며 오랜 세월과 생태를 품어온 것처럼, 이 작품 또한 잠시 머문 뒤 재활용되어 새로운 자원으로 순환하게 됩니다.

These 36 stones are sculpted from recycled aluminum fragments—once part of everyday urban objects such as drink cans, umbrellas, windows, bicycles, and cars. Their surfaces preserve delicate traces of origin, shimmering in light, shifting like ripples, and gradually weathering into the stillness of stone. Like the Cheonggyecheon , once buried and later revived, this work embodies the resilience of time and place. It lingers only briefly before returning to the sustainable cycle of upcycling and renewal.

이 돌은 마치 도시의 심연에서 솟아난 뿔처럼 서 있습니다. 매끈하게 눌린 면과 깊게 주름진 결이 교차하며, 서로 다른 파편의 기억을 이어붙입니다. 빛을 받을 때마다 표면은 날카로운 윤곽을 드러내며, 이는 도시가 오랜 세월 겹겹이 쌓아온 기억과 경험의 잔재를 떠올리게 합니다. 날선 모서리는 단단히 뻗은 뿔처럼 강렬한 인상을 남기며, 이 덩어리를 단순한 재활용 금속이 아닌 도시의 생명력과 방어 본능을 담아낸 존재로 변모시킵니다. This stone rises like a horn thrust from the marrow of the city. Its surfaces alternate between flattened planes and furrowed ridges, binding together fragments that once lived separate lives. Under shifting light, the contours sharpen into a fierce silhouette, evoking the layered residues of memory and experience that the city itself carries. A single protruding edge asserts itself like a crown of strength, transforming this block from compressed aluminum into a living emblem of vitality and defense.

그러나 이 뿔은 단순히 방어의 상징에 머물지 않습니다. 동물의 뿔이 생명의 일부이자 성장의 흔적이듯, 이 알루미늄 덩어리는 도시의 일상에서 갈려 나온 무수한 조각들이 다시 모여 새로운 형태를 이룬 결과물입니다. 일회적이었던 사물이 압축되어 강렬한 형상으로 태어나고, 다시 순환의 길로 들어갈 준비를 합니다. 도시의 뿔은 단단한 외피 안에 순환과 재생의 이야기를 품은, 도시가 남긴 또 하나의 상징적 유산입니다. Yet the horn is more than a weapon or shield. Like the horn of an animal, it is both part of the body and the trace of growth, an archive of time. These fragments, once fleeting in their use, are pressed into permanence, their textures recording the rhythms of urban existence. Awaiting their eventual return to the cycle of renewal, they hold fast in this form, embodying the paradox of endurance and impermanence. Urban Horn thus becomes not only a relic of material but also a testament to the city’s capacity for resilience and regeneration.
