청계천에 놓인 36개의 돌, [청계유석]은 우리가 매일 사용하는 음료수 캔, 우산, 창문과 문, 자전거, 자동차 등을 만들며 생겨난 알루미늄 조각을 재생, 압축해 만든 조형물입니다. 각 [청계유석]의 표면에는 저마다의 흔적이 남아있어, 물결처럼 잔잔한 변화를 일으키고 햇빛을 받아 반짝이다가 시간이 지나면 돌처럼 바래어갑니다. 청계천이 덮였다가 다시 열리며 오랜 세월과 생태를 품어온 것처럼, 이 작품 또한 잠시 머문 뒤 재활용되어 새로운 자원으로 순환하게 됩니다.

These 36 stones are sculpted from recycled aluminum fragments—once part of everyday urban objects such as drink cans, umbrellas, windows, bicycles, and cars. Their surfaces preserve delicate traces of origin, shimmering in light, shifting like ripples, and gradually weathering into the stillness of stone. Like the Cheonggyecheon , once buried and later revived, this work embodies the resilience of time and place. It lingers only briefly before returning to the sustainable cycle of upcycling and renewal.

이 덩어리는 금속임에도 불구하고 마치 퀼트처럼 이어 붙여진 감각을 전합니다. 단단한 판들이 겹겹이 포개지고 눌리며, 그 경계는 봉제선이 아닌 압력과 시간의 흔적으로 매끈하게 이어집니다. 차갑고 무거운 물성이지만, 표면 위의 리듬은 마치 손으로 정성스럽게 누벼낸 직물 같은 따스한 호흡을 만들어 냅니다. 금속이 지닌 강인함 속에서 오히려 유연한 직조적 풍경이 피어나며, 불완전한 조각들이 하나의 무늬로 화합합니다. Though forged from metal, this form evokes the tenderness of a quilt. Its overlapping plates press against one another, not stitched with thread but joined through pressure, weight, and time. The surface reveals a rhythm akin to fabric carefully hand-stitched, where cold rigidity paradoxically gives rise to a sense of warmth. Within its hardness unfolds a woven landscape, uniting scattered fragments into a coherent pattern.

금속 퀼트는 조각난 것들이 흩어지지 않고, 서로 기대며 다시 하나가 되는 과정을 은유합니다. 그 안에는 인간의 기억과 시간처럼 덧대어지고 포개지는 층위가 살아 있으며, 날카로운 흔적조차 패턴의 일부로 포용됩니다. 차가움과 따뜻함, 단단함과 부드러움이 교차하는 이 덩어리는, 침묵 속에서도 은근한 이야기를 품은 하나의 금속 직물처럼 다가옵니다.
 Metal Quilt suggests the act of fragmented pieces leaning into one another, forming a quiet harmony instead of dispersion. It carries layers reminiscent of memory and time, where even sharp traces are absorbed into the fabric of its design. In this silent interplay of hardness and softness, coldness and warmth, the piece resonates like a metallic textile—unyielding yet intimate, rigid yet full of whispered stories.
